Life is busy and full of chaos at my house most days. During the school year, I have 3 lunches to make daily and 4 kids to help get out the door in the morning; although my daughter is in high school and usually fends for herself most mornings, 3 boys that have to be told a million times to get ready and eat breakfast, and don’t get me started on brushing teeth and hair. I also have to make sure the baby is up, fed and dressed before I run to 2 different schools that are in opposite directions.
To say that my mornings are a tad busy would be an understatement. Making lunches may be the most time-consuming part of most mornings and having to spend time searching for perfect snacks for the kids is not always easy. My youngest loves his food and takes enough snacks to feed a small army, and usually comes home with an empty bag requesting a snack. I love the Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks as they are low in fat and high in taste. I am not a huge fan of fruit snacks usually, but even I love grabbing one of these packs to nibble on while I work during the day. I also make sure I have a couple of packs in my purse and diaper bag when we are on the go, in case someone gets hungry.
I try to make a few things up over the weekends like homemade muffins and cookies, and every night I decide on a different snack for the day. One of their favourites is when I do up a yogurt parfait with strawberries and bananas, and for added fun, I put Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks on top.
1 cup any flavour Greek yogurt (You can use other yogurt, I just prefer the thickness of the Greek yogurt)
1/2 cup each of chopped, chunky strawberry and banana
2 Tbsp. graham cracker crumbs
1 Pkg. of Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks
In small leak-proof containers, add a tablespoon and a half of yogurt followed by some of the chopped strawberry and banana, and a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs. Continue the layers until just near the top of the container, and top with Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks for a fun spin on yogurt parfaits. Makes 4 – 100ml containers.
My kids love the Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks and they have been a staple in their lunch boxes for the past couple years. I love that I can throw them into their lunch boxes on their own or throw them into a yogurt parfait. They are easy to pack up in their lunches and I also usually offer them as an after-school snack as well with some fruit and veggies.
I love that they are made with real fruit. They are also low in fat and gluten free, making them a great choice for my family and yours too. Follow this link to get your coupon for $1.00 off now.
