Disclosure: My boys attended a week of camp with the YMCA of Greater Toronto in exchange for this post but as always my opinion is my own.
What can a week of camp do for your kids? If it’s a YMCA of Greater Toronto camp, the possibilities are endless. I was hesitant at first to put my two older boys in camp because they aren’t active kids. They don’t make friends easily and they just like to do their own things.
After their first day at the YMCA of Greater Toronto summer camp, I felt so good about the decision. Even my oldest who literally doesn’t like to do anything besides playing video games came home excited and told me he wanted to spend all summer at their camp.
My oldest spent a week in Sr. Experimentology and every day they did a different science experiment as well as other fun games. He made a friend the very first day and the two spent hours talking and making cool science stuff like magnetic slime. They went swimming twice in the week which was so great as the weather was warm and perfect for cooling down.
My other son was in the variety camp and he too had a great time playing different sports and doing crafts. I loved that the YMCA of Greater Toronto offered so many different types of camps that any family is bound to find one that will suit any child. I mean if I can get my kids to enjoy a week of camp, then anyone can.
I also felt that my kids were in a safe place in capable hands. From sign in to sign out, I know my kids were in a safe space. The camp counsellors all knew my sons by the end of the second day and I thought that was so great. Every day when I picked them up, they had so much to share about their days.

With about 5 weeks left of summer holidays, there is still plenty of time to sign your kids up for a YMCA of Greater Toronto Day camp and I will tell you it will be the best thing you can do for your kids this year.
