How do we celebrate a man that helps to guide and mold us into the adults we will become? How do we say I love you and you are important to me to the man that picks us up when we fall? I think the best way to celebrate dad and the man he is, is to show him all the love you have for him, not just on Father’s Day but every day.
Dad is a hard topic for me to talk about as my biological father was never that man. I have not spoken to him since I was 18 years old and honestly, I am okay with that. Sometimes we just need to walk away from those things that don’t make us happy. However, I did have a great stepdad that stepped into the role of dad about the same time I stopped talking to my real father. He has been a great stepdad and stepped into the role for myself, my sister and my brother easily. He was there the day I was married the first time and helped me through my divorce when it ended. He helped pick me up when I was at my lowest and joined me again the day I married the best thing that ever happened to me and wished us well.
He has been an amazing grandfather for all of our children (there are 9 of them between my sister, brother and I) and I know that even when he gets grumpy, I can ask him for anything and I know he will be there to help.
This Father’s Day, I thought why not put up a really great printable that was made intentionally large to give the smaller hands lots of room to draw, scribble and make the card their own just for dad. I would love for you to use it with your kids and give dad all the love this Father’s Day. It’s a foldover card and I hope you will use it for dad this year.
