The Holiday season is always so busy! The hustle and bustle of shoppers, the crazy menu planning and of course the wrapping. ALL THE WRAPPING. There has to be a way to get a few minutes of sanity in there! Guess what? There are. You need to ensure that you are recharging your Holiday batteries and finding time to relax, or you will find that you don’t get time to enjoy the Holidays at all.
So while you still need to get everything done, you also equally need to find the time to put your feet up and do something that makes you feel good. Even if that means bonking someone over the head with an empty wrapping paper tube while wrapping gifts. (Try it I promise it’s as satisfying as it sounds, just make sure it’s not one of those really heavy ones, be gentle.)
If your children are old enough to argue over the remote, they sure as heck are old enough to help with some chores. Write them out a small, age-appropriate list of things that they can help you with. BONUS: This frees up that remote for you to sneak in something you want to watch while you fold laundry.
If you really feel like you need a break and the idea of preparing, cooking and cleaning up after dinner makes you feel as though you might cry. DON’T DO IT. Order in, Take out or go out to a nice place to eat as a family. You need not expect yourself to do too much and you will thank yourself when you don’t have to stare at the pile of dirty dishes in your sink.
Keep Decorating to a Minimum
Decorating is an amazing way to spend time together, but it can get way over stressful when you feel the need for everything to be just right. Choose to decorate using a few really nice pieces that make you smile, but Christmas doesn’t have to barf all over your house. In fact, you will thank yourself when the Holidays are over and it’s time for it to all come down.
There are many ways to find time to relax over the Holidays! You are supposed to be having fun, not wishing they were over so grab your favourite Holiday beverage and relax on the couch for a little while. Your batteries certainly need a recharge over this stressful season.
