Disclosure: This post for my Carnation Hot Chocolate Marshmallow Brownies, was sponsored by Nestlé however, my opinions are completely my own and based on my own personal experiences.
Hot chocolate has always been a product that I see as more of a winter thing. Hot chocolate and cold winter nights go hand in hand and there is nothing better than a hot, tall mug of Carnation Hot Chocolate (with marshmallows of course) to warm you up when it’s cold outside but how can I make hot chocolate into something great tasting but not just great for winter? By stirring things up and adding it to one of our favourite recipes, chocolate brownies. These brownies are ones my mom made my entire childhood and I remember spending many Christmases, birthday parties and family get-togethers indulging in one of these chocolatey delights.
They are a very simple recipe to make and my kids had fun eating them. My daughter actually helped make this one. They are moist and flavourful and the perfect treat for that sweet tooth. Try them for yourself and let me know what you think.
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 Carnation Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 jar Marshmallow fluff
Preheat oven to 350°. Mix flour, baking powder, hot chocolate powder and salt in a bowl and set aside. Melt the margarine, add in the cocoa, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well. Slowly add in the dry ingredients until blended. Pour into a greased and floured 13×9 pan.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool for about 5-10 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, spread the marshmallow fluff over the top like icing and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips (optional). Makes approximately 24 squares.
This recipe will be one I will be making this more often and I think I could even send this as a baked item for school fundraisers too. The simplicity of a brownie made even better with the warm comfort of Carnation Hot Chocolate. I also had fresh fruit cup up for each of my kids as well to enjoy with the brownies and I gave each of them a half piece each instead of a whole one.
