Summer seems to be the time of birthdays, Bah Mitzvahs, Communions, and other celebrations. I know that the usual gift for birthdays are toys and books which are great but never last long enough. Another gift I see being given a lot is money.
What if you decided to have a party or celebration and asked that instead of toys or books that they contribute to your child’s RESP? If they were going to give money anyway, why not make it count and go towards your child’s education?
I know to some this may sound tacky or something that most people might not want to do but I think it would be a great option especially as a parent of 5, contributing isn’t always easy but this way I could get a little bit of help from those who don’t mind doing it. I think you could always add it to the birthday invitation and ask that in lieu of toys or money gifts, it would be appreciated if any gift you decide to do, could be in the form of a contribution to “child’s name” RESP. The lifetime investment of an RESP will far outweigh any toy, game or book because we all know the importance of getting a good education.
Not everyone truly knows the importance of setting up an RESP for your child early as they can get the most help when you start it early. Heritage Education Funds can help you plan and save for your child’s education as they truly are experts in their field.
