Laundry. The absolute bane of my existence, not to mention the fact that with 7 people who wear clothes daily (including one who goes through several outfits a day) you can only imagine how much I have to do. I actually really hate doing laundry too (it’s almost as bad as cleaning bathrooms) and I am thankful that my husband really does his share of it (maybe even more than I do). There are a couple times a year when we end up with way more laundry than usual and that is when it’s time to clean out the old and bring in the new. Spring cleaning and refreshing our wardrobe is a must in our house every year.
Just before school starts and just a month before school ends, is what we call the clothes changeover. I put away all the summer clothes minus a select few pairs of shorts and get out all the heavy, winter clothing and we do the opposite in May. So in about two weeks, my house will be a little chaotic for about a week while we transition seasons and that makes for extra laundry as this also is when we find out what still fits and what we are handing down. Having 4 boys does have an advantage in that I can hand down some of the clothes that still have life in them but need a little refresh. Just to show you a typical laundry day in my house, as embarrassed as I am to show it, this is my laundry room:
So we wash all of the summer stuff that is coming out and with 7 people in a household, you can imagine how many loads that ends up being. One thing I love using and I have been using for years even before I became a Church & Dwight Ambassador was OxiClean. I love using it with every load of laundry I do and I will tell you with 4 boys (2 of which get grass stains in places I have no idea how they got them in) this product has saved many pairs of pants that still had loads of life in them even if they were a little dirty. When I combine it with Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean 3-in-1 power paks laundry detergent, it tackles even the toughest of my boys’ stains. Thanks to the power of baking soda, it also keeps our clothes smelling fresher, longer. I love that they are throw and go and by that I mean I throw a pack in the washer drum (I have a front loader) and put my clothes in and turn it on. I also love that it can be used in cold water which means I am also saving money by not washing with hot water.
