Last year I remember thinking how much I loved my blog. I loved writing it and interacting with all of you. I am able to vent here, cry here and share a part of my life with all of you. I was also able to afford certain things that I would not have otherwise had the opportunity to, without it. I have spent the better part of the last few months wondering if I should keep it going. Whether or not all of the work I have done over the past 3 years have been worth it. After much thought and some soul-searching, this year I have decided that along with the my word of the year, this year will be for me. I am just going to write about life, add some great recipes and blog about the things that are important to me. This is our year for big dreams.
If that brings opportunities to work with great brands and products that I love, then that will be the icing on my cake. If it doesn’t, then I know that no matter what, this blog is mine and I am able to do what I want with it. I want to have more of me on the blog. More content that can be read for years to come not just right now. Recipes that are family favourites and traditions and even those that we are trying for the very first time. Documenting little man’s first years of life and following along with my newly minted teenager as she grows and changes as well as talking about the challenges I am currently facing with my oldest 2 boys as well.
I have also decided on a goal for myself and our family. I want to take the kids on a 6 week adventure to Europe. It is going to cost upwards of about $25,000-$28,000 which is a huge chunk of change but it will also be the most amazing trip of a lifetime. I hope to have us fly into London, lease a car for the 6 week trip and spend a few days there seeing as much as we can and trying to do the things we didn’t get to do while hubby and I were there in 2011. Then we will cross the channel into France and visit the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe. Next we will drive to Italy, the one place in Europe I long to see. We will spend some time in Verona, Venice and Rome with stops at the Colosseum, Pathenon and the Trevi fountain. Then we would continue our drive through France to Spain with stops in Barcelona and Madrid before we stop for at least 10 or 12 days at my mother in law’s home in Cadiz. While visiting with her, we will do a day trip into Gibraltar so the kids can experience that as well. Our final stop before flying home will be in Lisbon, Portugal. It is a huge dream that I hope I can make happen in the next few years. I will be paying us by depositing a certain amount of money per month into our TFSA. This account is the perfect place for it because once it’s there, I can’t just take it out. We have to actually go to the bank so it makes it harder to get at.
I am so excited for what 2017 has in store for me and my family and I am even more excited to work really hard towards my goal of a family vacation of a lifetime. This year is going to be great and I can’t wait to embrace our big dreams!
