As a mom of 4, soon to be 5, I have used a lot of diapers over the last 11 years. I wasn’t always a fan of Huggies over the years but after really using these diapers the past few weeks, I will not be using any other diaper as I feel they are the most superior diaper on the market and I also intend on buying the #LittleSnugglersPlus for my new little one coming in January.
I think I can share with you some of my tips for easy baby bum changes to make changing you little one just a little easier.
I have always had super squirmy babies as they have gotten older and changing diapers became a kind of twister activity sometimes with another one of the kids holding arms but mostly with these tips, you can have a mess-free change every time.
- Have everything you need for each diaper change within reach so that you don’t need to go looking for stuff with a naked baby on the couch or change table. I usually have a change pad, a diaper, wipes and diaper rash cream. I tend to use the cream at every diaper change when baby is new but only as needed as they get older. I also have these items in 2 places, upstairs in my room and downstairs in the living room as these are the two places where baby will get changed most. I also find as they get older that having a toy or something to distract them while you change them helps too.
- Buy diapers in large quantities. I buy diapers when they are on sale but I tend to buy my diapers at Costco as you get the largest box on the market and the new Huggies Little Movers Plus, which are only available at Costco, are the best I have used in years. I love the fact that they are Huggies most absorbent diapers but the inside layer that goes against babies’ skin is ultra soft. They also have a GentleAbsorb liner that provides a cushiony layer of protection for their sensitive bums. Since switching to these diapers I have had no leaks or messes yet. I also love that they are super stretchy and don’t leave those awful marks on his inner thighs. They move with him and that is a huge selling feature for us.
- Extra clothes on hand. My toddler doesn’t really go through his clothes too often now that he is older but when he was a newborn, I literally had to change his clothes every other diaper change because of blow-outs and leaks. I always have a change of clothes on hand for the days that he gets super dirty or a diaper leaks. Thankfully, since switching to these Little Movers Plus we have had no leaks or blowouts and I am okay with that.
- Creams and more creams. I have always been one to use a diaper cream as a preventative as my kids were always prone to diaper rash so I would use cream at every diaper change. My littlest man was the worse for it and we actually found out that he is allergic to baby wipes except the Huggies Natural Care, which is great because you can buy these in a big box at Costco as well. They have the Natural Care Plus now and they are super durable (less tearing) and cushiony soft.
Just remember, diaper changes don’t have to be stressful if you have everything you need ready.
